What's your latest rig?
#1
What is your latest PC setup? Anything new? I will start.

I gave away my last desktop to a cousin that had no computer, so did I go buy a new shiny beast of a PC? Of course not! I have kids and am broke, so now I play and work on my "Lab" workstation. It is an HP Z600 Workstation from like 2009 or 2010. The cool thing is that it has dual Xeon processors and I upped the memory to 24GB so I run a complete 4 server clustered virtual lab, Plex and still play AC and Minecraft on it. It also does fairly well at encoding videos. All for $200 and some spare parts. Whee!

500 GB SSD

Old 1GB Zotac Nvidia GPU

Pretty decent specs, but I can't be bothered getting a list of them. It has a GTX 1060 and runs most things pretty well, I got it late last year.

My latest rig even if I only use it on holidays and some weekends is this little thing:

- Intel Core i3-6100T 3.2GHz
- Asus H110I-PLUS D3 (mini-itx)
- Sandisk 240GB SSD
- Scythe Kodati (CPU cooler)
- Crutial Ballistix Ultra Low Profile 2 x 8GB
- PicoPSU 160W block + connector

I must say this build is only possible because of the crazy low wattage and low heat generation of the processor, crazy small size yet crazy efficient CPU cooler and also the "ultra low profile" ram sticks which fit their names well.

And I made a whole "DIY" Imgur album for the curious: https://imgur.com/a/hXnof

I bought another old beast to use as my learning "lab" a couple months back. Hence the lack of affording a new video card. It is another dual cpu rig with Xeon 12-core processors. Of course the new I9s and Ryzens beat it, but it puts up some great hyper-threading numbers at 1/2 the price.

48 GB DDR3 Ram (Supports 192!)
